The Gospels tell us that Jesus would do two things: (1) John 1:29 "take away the sin of the world" and (2) Luke 3:16 "baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." So is so much of the church content to have Jesus take away their sins but not to have Him baptize them in the Holy Spirit? In John 16:7, Jesus said "it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you." This series will teach you all that God The Holy Spirit does in the lives of believers so that we can reach our full potential in Christ.

The Scripture is clear that we, as Christians, ought to "earnestly desire" spiritual gifts. Yet, far too many believers are content to simply be the beneficiaries of spiritual gifts while not allowing the Holy Spirit to use us to minister to others the way we have been ministered to. The Holy Spirit has wonderful gifts to be used in service to the Lord. As our lives should always bring glory to the Lord, we should earnestly desire to be used by God by being available to the Holy Spirit.

Holy Fire: Part 2 - Keeping The Main Thing, The Main Thing

For believers, it's all about the Gospel. It starts with the Gospel. It ends with the Gospel. The Gospel is "The Main Thing." Because of salvation, not only will the believer receive God's Spirit, but can and should be baptized in the Holy Spirit. For those Christians who love and embrace the baptism of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, etc, in their excitement, enjoyment and experience of the Holy Spirit, they can sometimes lose sight of The Gospel message. However, we must always keep the Gospel at the forefront of our lives, our preaching, and of the church.
