Although followers of Jesus are torn in two directions, the desire to follow where Christ leads for the common good outweighs all other thoughts and feelings.

1. I long to leave this world and live with Christ
a. We all are infected with homesickness
b. That obviously would be the best thing for me.

2. It is probably more necessary for me to stay here on earth
a. Many things make us sick and tired of this world
b. We are governed by a greater necessity

3. I shall not leave this world quite yet
a. “living” to me simply means Christ
b. To help y’all forward in Christian faith and find increasing joy

We are sent into the world with the Holy Spirit, the Comforter a. By saturating in the means of grace, not of ourselves b. By appreciating the fruits and gifts of the Spirit 3. We are sent into the world with the forgiveness of sins a. Daily in the Lord’s Prayer / Luther’s evening prayer b. For our enemies and persecutors, bless those who curse
