Daniel's Friends Refuse to Bow

Nebuchadnezzar was the ruler of the Babylonian Empire. After destroying Jerusalem he enslaved the Israelites. Among those captured were four young men- Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Nebuchadnezzar quickly realized that he could educate the minds of these men, but he could not change their hearts. They wee faithful to their duties, but their ultimate devotion was to the Lord.

Whenever we find ourselves in difficult circumstances, we can be confident that the Lord is with us, just as He was with Daniel and his friends. The words resonate with us "Fear not, for I am with you".

Josiah Calls the People Back to God

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign. He "did that which was right in the sight of the Lord" (II Kings 22:2). Despite his wicked predecessors and the fact that the Law of Moses had been lost, this young king put himself on the road to righteousness.
