Day 9

Day 9: Daily Mind Renewal: Do not be Conformed to this World

Watch the Video Above: Daily Mind Renewal - Bryan

Overview: When my mind thinks of the things of this world, I live out what is worldly. When my mind thinks of things that are of God, I live out what is Godly. When we give ourselves over the Jesus, we make the decision to strive daily to change our thinking from a world’s view to God’s view.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:4 NLT

We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.

Practical Guide: Today, I am going to identify 5 ways that I have allowed myself to conform to this world (my temper, my spending, my social media, my communication, my friendships). I am going to replace those 5 things with 5 other things that will build my relationship with Jesus better (scripture reading, silence, prayer, compassion, patience, honor).

Prayer: Jesus, my desire is to allow you to change what is inside of me so that I can begin living it out on the outside of me. Give me the boldness to step into the place of wanting to change and perseverance to push through to the end. My desire is that as I grow in you that I will see life change taking place in the way I live my life. In Jesus name, amen.

Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.

Day 21

Day 21: It Is Well with My Soul: Hope in the middle of tragedy. Watch the Video Above: It Is Well With My Soul - Bob Overview: The lyrics to the famous hymn, "It Is Well with My Soul" written by Horatio G. Spafford are words of encouragement to us living in a broken world. The message focused on how life can be unpredictable and challenging, but faith and trust in God can help us to overcome hardship and tragedy. Horatio lost his entire fortune in the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871. Early that year his 4-year-old son died, and then later that year his four daughters drowned. Even through these unbelievable tragic losses, he was able to lean on the Lord and was able to push forward. The truth is, we will all face trials in life. The good news is we serve a God who loves us and will always be with us – a loving father who dwells in our very soul. Scripture:   Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Practical Guide: Today is the last day of your 21 days of prayer and fasting. Way to push through and do this. Today, as I finish up whatever it was that I was fasting from, I will be thankful for God and all that He has done for me and will continue to bless me in. Throughout the day, I will sing the simple first verse and chorus of the hymn written by Horatio as a song of thanks to God for walking with me in life. Feel His presence in your precious soul as you sing this hymn today. It Is Well with My Soul Verse 1 When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul. Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul. Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for these last 21 days. Thank you for your grace and patience with me and thank you for this time to draw nearer to you. Lord, please allow me to continue to grow in my relationship with you, helping me be consistent in reading your word and spending time with you daily. Please bless and protect me and my family this year. Help me to stay healthy in all areas of my life – body, mind, heart and soul and help me to love others the way you love me. In Jesus name, amen. Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.

Day 20

Day 20: Quench my Soul: What are you thirsting for? Watch the Video Above: Quench My Soul - Jeff Overview: So, what are you thirsting for? What does your soul long for? The world offers us a wide range of things that claim to fulfill us – and yet all of these worldly things will fade and fall short. Author Larry Crabb wrote this: “We cannot stop wanting to be happy – our souls long for whatever we think will provide the greatest possible pleasure. Our problem is that we are not yet fully aware that an 'intimate relationship with God' is that greatest pleasure. In our foolishness we look for that experience in all the wrong places. We dig 'broken cisterns' to satisfy our thirst and walk right by the fresh spring of water that is God. An encounter with God is what we really want – we just don’t know it. We dream 'lower dreams' and think there are none higher.” Scripture:  Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. John 4:13-14 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” Practical Guide: Today, to help me be aware what will actually quench the longings of my soul (an intimate relationship with God), I will recite the following hymn throughout the day today. I will consider making it a prayer that I intentionally pray at different moments during my day today. Hymn:  Fill My Cup Lord Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole. Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me and knowing me so personally. Thank you that you know every hair on my head and that you care for me so much that you are available to hear my prayers. Thank you for quenching my soul with an intimate relationship with you, found through your son Jesus. Please allow me to seek the good things that are of you to quench my soul, and not things of this world. Please lead me and guide me and comfort me in the challenges that I will face today. Lord, please fill my cup and make me whole. In Jesus name, amen. Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.

Day 19

Day 19: Soul Food: We need to feed our soul. Watch the Video Above: Soul Food - Yemisi Overview: Your soul needs to be fed. If you’re not intentional about healthy ways to feed your soul with the Word of God, you might find yourself spiritually starving. We know we need to feed our soul, but life happens and we get distracted. One day leads into another, and before we know it, we find ourselves spiritually famished and our faith begins to weaken. We feed our souls whether we’re intending to or not. If you’re not feeding your soul with the Word of God, you’re feeding it something else. What are you feeding it? Seriously. Stop and think about that. What are you actually feeding your soul right now? God created all of us with a need for His Word.  Scripture:  1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. John 6:35 Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. Practical Guide: It is vital that we feed our soul with God’s word – to read it, listen to it, meditate on it and apply it to our lives. Today, every time I eat or snack on something, I will open up my Bible or my Bible app and read a verse. I can read the same verse all day and memorize it or read a new one each time. I will allow this activity to remind me of the importance of feeding my soul with the Word of God and I will praise God for giving me His truth found in His scripture.  Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your beautiful scripture that brings me truth and hope and brings me closer to you Father. Allow me to really grasp the importance of feeding my soul – how important it is for me to read and meditate on your precious Word. Lord, help me slow down and take the time to open up your Word. Please reveal to me anything you would like me to know from reading your scripture. Thank you for giving me all that I need to feed my soul. I love you with all my soul Lord. In Jesus name, amen. Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.
