General UMC Conversation Update

On January 26th, during the CUMC Year-in-Review, Pastor Curtis updated the church and answered a few questions on the future of the United Methodist Church. To help people understand the current conversation, Pastor Adam Hamilton of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection shared his thoughts on the current issues:

1. Why remain in the United Methodist Church?

2. Love of Scripture

3. Committed to Christ

4. Human Sexuality

5. A Future with Hope

6. Moving Forward with the United Methodist Church

Most of these topics were mentioned in a letter to Pastor Adam from Pastor Rob Renfroe. Pastor Renfroe is the President of the Good News Organization and calls for church division over human sexuality. Panel Conversation on At-Risk Children and Youth in Columbia

February 1, 2023

On Feb. 1, CUMC hosted a panel discussion and Q&A time about the realities of at-risk children and youth in our broader community. Steve Hollis from the Division of Human Services, Ranita Norwood from Columbia Public Schools, and Kathyrn O'Hagan from Columbia Foster and Adoptions Project will share insights from their experiences and suggestions for gaps in services in our area. Please join us again on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. to continue the conversation and begin identifying possible ministry opportunities for at-risk children and youth in our community.
