Daniel draws a line out of faithfulness to his God, and he sticks to his resolution. So my idea is that God shows up when we’re faithful in small ways, which should remind us that God has a big plan that he is working out.

In Daniel 5, we meet another Babylonian king. He’s not much different than Nebuchadnezzar, yet in certain way, he’s a lot different. When Daniel steps in to speak God’s word, the two kings respond in very different ways. Who speaks God’s word when you’re in the fire, and how do you respond to God’s word when you’re in the fire? This Sunday we gather at the communion table and ask God to graciously probe our hearts.
