Following Jesus is a paradox. On one hand we come to church looking for something to fill us up, but on the other hand, the more we allow Jesus to fill us up, the more we’re invited to stop focusing on ourselves. The gravitational pull in life is always toward meeting our own needs, but in an interesting twist, Jesus invites to meet our needs by looking to the needs of others.

More people know about Jesus than about anyone else in the history of the world. Knowing about a person, however, is vastly different than actually knowing a person - and there’s the rub. Jesus didn’t invite his followers to simply know about him; he invited them to recognize something special about him that has the power to transform lives.

We all know someone who could use God in their life. The problem is, those same people have often had a bad experience with the people who represent God. So how do we overcome the barriers that keep people from moving in God’s direction?
