During our 21 days of prayer & fasting, we've prepared a Daily Prayer Guide to help guide you on your journey, provide daily inspiration in your prayer times, and to unite us in prayer as a community during our 21-Day journey.
Here is a brief overview of each of the elements that you'll find in each of the daily prayer topics.
1. SILENCE. At the heart of our 21 day journey is the practice of silence, stillness and centering ourselves before God. In this posture, we stop our activity and pause to be with the Living God. Scripture says: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently" (Psalm 37:7) and "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). We move into God's presence and rest there, letting go of tensions, distractions and becoming aware of God's love and presence. This may be challenging at first as our internal and external worlds are filled with noise and distractions. Give yourselves lots of grace here.
2. SCRIPTURE. Whether it's a single verse, or a short passage — read slowly (or even aloud) chewing and meditating on different words or phrases. If God leas you to stop on a word or a verse, do so. Be attentive in your heart to what God is doing inside of you and invite the Holy Spirit to guide you.
3. DEVOTIONAL. The purpose of these devotionals is to stretch you in your journey. We have integrated riches and perspectives from a wide variety of sources — connecting them to the Scripture reading and topic for the day. These devotionals are meant to be read slowly and prayerfully.
4. REFLECTION/APPLICATION. Each devotion ends with a questions and/or application. Spend a few moments reflecting on or even writing down/journaling your initial responses. Consider how your time with God might be prompting you to go about your day with intention, thinking or doing differently that day in light of what God might be saying to you.
5. PRAYER. Written prayers can be a powerful and rich way to connect with the Divine. You may want to pray the words that are written, or perhaps, take on the direction of the written prayer and pray your own words.
Again, our Daily Payer Guide is simply a tool to help you on your 21 day prayer & fasting journey. This is not intended to become legalistic by any means. Leverage it as you feel the Spirit leading you. May you experience the beauty, goodness, presence and love of God deeply during your times of prayer!
