How Godly Mothers Leave a Legacy | The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

May 14, 2023 • Pastor Dave Koop • 1 Timothy 4:12, Deuteronomy 6:6–7, 2 Timothy 4:2, Psalm 122:1, Proverbs 4:23

To equip the next generation for today’s culture we must leave a legacy of godliness. As we pass on Biblical values to our children and teenagers, we’re preparing a generation of spirit filled believers who are strong in the Lord and power of His might.

“I doubt if I ever would have been an inventor had it not been for the encouragement of my mother.” - Thomas Edison

Although we desire to raise happy, well-educated, independent kids, our primary goal is to raise content, radically Christ centered servant leaders.

“Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night.” - Deuteronomy 6:6-7 MSG

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is not just a distant concept or an abstract idea, nor a passive observer in our lives. He is the living and active presence of God within us who is renewing and shaping our view of the world from God’s perspective.

The True Measure of a Father's Success | The Holy Spirit

June 18, 2023 • Pastor Dave Koop • 1 Timothy 5:8, Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Ephesians 6:4, Romans 12:2, Psalm 82:3–4

In a world that is redefining the family, fathers need a clear measurement of what a father is and what God expects of them to succeed. Measurement is like a compass that guides us through the flood of information coming at us today, helping us to navigate our way. For a father to “measure up” he must pattern himself not after what the world is saying but after what God has spoken. Fathers are on a journey, and they need the guiding principles of the Bible to not only tell them who they are, but how they can lead their family safely through the challenging times we live in. Whether it’s checking the length of a piece of wood, the temperature of an oven, or the distance to the moon, measurements provide us with tangible data that allows us to make wise decisions.

How to Operate In The Gifts of the Spirit | The Holy Spirit

June 11, 2023 • Pastor Dave Koop • 1 Corinthians 12:1, 1 Corinthians 14:1, Romans 15:19, 1 Corinthians 13:1–2, 1 Corinthians 14:3

The Greek word for “spiritual gift” is charisma. It means, “something freely given.” The plural Greek word, charismata, is found in 1 Corinthians 12:4, 9, 28, 30-31. The spiritual gifts or charismata are operations of supernatural abilities bestowed on individuals, to flow through them at the will of the Holy Spirit revealing the love and power of God. Now about the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed. – 1 Corinthians 12:1 AMP
