On May 16 and 17, CMPC will host A Praying Life Seminar, a ministry of SeeJesus. A $10 fee is requested to help offset the cost of materials and seminar expenses.
SeeJesus (https://seejesus.net/) is a discipleship ministry led by Paul Miller. Paul is executive director of SeeJesus, a global discipling mission active in over 30 countries, and author of interactive Bible studies and books including A Praying Life and J-Curve.
CMPC’s A Praying Life Seminar is not a session on how to pray (although you will learn about that) but a seminar on deepening your relationship with Jesus, becoming a person who loves others like Jesus does, and developing an approach to prayer where you engage with the stories God is writing.
Many of us are quietly defeated in our private prayer lives. We've tried praying, but it just doesn't seem to work. So we feel a combination of frustration and guilt. In this seminar, we will learn step-by-step how to begin a private life of prayer in fellowship with our heavenly Father. We will explore questions such as...
How do you stay focused when you are distracted with so much to do?
How do you pray longer than five minutes?
How do you pray when your own life is messed up?
How do you ask when you've tried it before and it doesn't work?
Our seminar will be led by SeeJesus staff member, Bruce Goldsmith. Bruce is, a native of Virginia, was Senior Pastor of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, until recently when he joined SeeJesus fulltime. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1987. In 1992, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University after returning to school upon answering the call to ministry. In 1999, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in pastoral counseling and he received a Master of Divinity in 2014, both from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife where he can be near his adult children.
