TRUTH: Justice matters because it is foundational to the One whom we follow!

1. God’s character is something to be praised
Psalm 89:5-7 :: Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?

2. Justice is foundational to God’s character
Psalm 89:14 :: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.

3. God’s justice is not just retributive, but restorative
Psalm 89:33-34 :: but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.

4. As image bearers, we all have a responsibility to seek justice
Genesis 1:27 :: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

5. Sin leans us toward self-preservation and toward injustice
Genesis 4:7 :: If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
