TRUTH: Being irritable overshadows our attempts to love 1. It is self-centered Luke 9:12 :: Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.” 2. It impacts discernment Luke 9:13 :: But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” 3. It robs us of joy Luke 9:17 :: And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces. What does this mean for me? S - Stop, repent, and ask T - Trust a promise O - Obey in faith P - Prepare for the moments

The Way of Love - Never Ends

TRUTH: Love does not expire! • June 24, 2018 • Jason Smith

TRUTH: Love does not expire! Love never ends because… 1. God is love 1 John 4:8 :: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 2. God is eternal Revelation 1:8 :: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Psalm 90:1-2 :: Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 3. Love is eternal 1 Corinthians 13:8 :: Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. What does this mean for me? 1. As long as there is God, there will be love 2. Since God’s love never stops, I can be assured of it 3. Since love will always exist, the call to walk in it will never cease

The Way of Love - Endures

TRUTH: Love does not retreat in the midst of challenge! • June 17, 2018 • Jason Smith

TRUTH: Love does not retreat in the midst of challenge! I endure because… 1. God’s grace is too great to keep for myself 2 Timothy 2:10 :: Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 2. The reward is too great to miss Matthew 10:22 :: and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 3. It is the example of the One I pursue! Hebrews 12:2 :: looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. What does this mean for me? With Jesus, I’m capable of enduring more than I think

The Way of Love - Does Not Rejoice at Wrong

TRUTH: Love does not take pleasure in evil • June 3, 2018 • Jason Smith

TRUTH: Love does not take pleasure in evil Celebrating a wrong… 1. Brings God’s wrath Romans 1:18 :: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 2. Blinds us to the truth Romans 1:25 :: because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 3. Leads to greater evil Romans 1:28 :: And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 4. Encourages others to sin Romans 1:32 :: Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. What does this mean for me? 1. Love will, with grace, speak truth about a sinful situation or person 2. When I love, I will be broken over my own sin, or someone else’s sin
