TRUTH: Love takes instruction from God’s Word

Being wise in your own eyes means…

1. I have lost my fear of God
Proverbs 3:7 :: Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 9:10 :: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

2. I have forgotten the source
James 1:5 :: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Luke 21:15 :: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

3. I have become arrogant
Romans 11:18 :: do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.

4. I have outgrown the need for obedience
James 3:13 :: Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.

What does this mean for me?
1. My own wisdom will lead to relationships that are broken and marked by sin
2. Godly wisdom will lead to healthy, thriving relationships
