The gospel of Jesus Christ changes our entire identity. It means that, as Christians, we have the status of forgiven, justified, and redeemed Children of God. Paul is writing the church to remind them to not fall back into thinking they are orphans, but to lean into the promise that God is a loving Father who has adopted us into his family.
