Understanding the Transfiguration

A Glimpse of Jesus' Glory

September 29, 2024 • Pastor Dan Martin • Revelation 21:23, Mark 9:1–13, Psalm 66, Matthew 5:17–18

The Transfiguration of Jesus is a pivotal event in the New Testament, showcasing His divine nature and fulfilling the Old Testament. In Mark 9:1-13, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where He is transfigured, His clothes becoming dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear, symbolizing the Law and the Prophets, and a voice from a cloud declares, 'This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!' This miraculous event emphasizes the importance of heeding Jesus' teachings and seeking moments of solitude and prayer to encounter God's presence. It challenges us to recognize and embrace God's glory in our daily lives, reflecting His light through prayer, worship, and acts of service.
