The book of Jonah contains much irony. The major theme of irony is how can we who have experienced the great compassion of God, not extend it to others?

In Jonah 1 :4-16 we learn 4 other ironic lessons:

The purpose of Jonah has been to show you how God pursues sinners, how God fulfills His global plan, and to contrast the difference of God’s heart and ours. And chapter 4 is the key to understanding Jonah. And as we walk through this final chapter, we want to accomplish two goals: 1. Marvel at God’s Mercy 2. Analyze Your Own Heart Are we more like Jonah, or more like Jesus?
