Four Investements

Invested in Relationships

January 22, 2023 • Jason Treadwell, Bruce Stefanik • Matthew 6:19–21, Ephesians 1:4–7, Ephesians 5:2

For the last three Sundays we have talked about how we invest every day in something. We were encouraged through scripture that investing in being Spirit filled, Gospel-formed and Mission driven would lead to enjoying eternal life today. Jesus talked clearly about investments.  To invest is: to make use of present resources in order to earn a return or reap future benefits or advantages…

Living on Mission

January 15, 2023 • Bruce Stefanik, Jason Treadwell • Romans 7:24–25, Matthew 7:12, John 13:34–35, Matthew 14:15–20, Romans 12:3

For the last two weeks, we have talked about how we invest every day in something. We were encouraged through scripture that investing in being Spirit filled and Gospel-formed would lead to enjoying eternal life today. This Sunday, we will see what results from those two investments. How does a life transformed by the Gospel and filled with the Spirit occupy its time? If the primary occupation of the flesh is to indulge the flesh, then what is the primary work of the believer? How does someone relieved from the burden of self-righteousness, redeemed from the debt of sin, and empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit spend this new life they have been given? The new-found freedom of being born again with all our debts canceled frees us from our old mission of trying to serve the flesh and prove ourselves and allows us to give our lives to God’s mission instead; the furtherance of the Gospel into other's lives. Because he gave all to me, I can freely give.

Formed by the Spirit

January 8, 2023 • Jason Treadwell, Daniel Da Silva • Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 3:18, Romans 5:6–11, Romans 1:15, John 3:16

Last week we talked about investing in being led by the Holy Spirit. Many times this is seen as the primary way a believer is formed. It is very true that the Holy Spirit is formative but it is not alone in transforming us. It is a byproduct of hearing and believing the Gospel. Unfortunately, many people see salvation through the Gospel as step one to be left behind for greater things. If we look at scripture we will see that The Gospel is not just the door into the Kingdom but it is the whole of the Kingdom and once we pass through it we walk not away from it but deeper into it.

Led by the Spirit

January 1, 2023 • Daniel Da Silva, Matt Thatcher • Romans 8:14–16, Galatians 5:16

Fifty-two Sundays from right now this year will be spent. Like every year of our life that came before 2023, we occupied our time with different investments. Do we invest in the areas that bring glory to God?
