Christ On Mission

Four-week Christmas Series

The Christmas Commission

December 22, 2019 • Daniel Harrison

Sunday we opened the Word to Luke 2:8-20 and unpacked the meaning of Christmas: "Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people... Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” This message also bridges us with vision for the new year. We are excited about our What’s Next series that begins January 5th!

The Gift of Jesus

Daniel Harrison

We know that Jesus offers forgiveness to all people, but how do we know it's inherent to us? How do we know we are truly saved? In this message we open up with four categories of people when it comes to assurance. We spend the sermon unpacking biblically the essence of forgiveness and end with practical teaching to gain true assurance.

The Message of Jesus

December 8, 2019 • Daniel Harrison

This sermon unpacks the first message of Jesus: "Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." Mark 1:15. Repentance isn't the most popular subject for the church today. But it is the New Testament preparation message from John the Baptist and the first practical teaching point of Jesus himself. At the heart of this message are answers to four questions: What is repentance? Why is it biblically so important? How do I repent? and How is this good news?

The Advent of Jesus

December 1, 2019 • Daniel Harrison

(Try the new Fill In Notes feature above!) Advent is a time of preparation for an encounter with the God who came in the flesh. Advent simply means “arrival.” It is a season of waiting, anticipation, and preparation, as we seek to make ourselves ready for an encounter with Jesus. We will began this four week series by opening the book of Matthew to chapter 1. The “begats” of Matthew can be laborious to read, but it is through this repetition, ordinariness, and human brokenness that God has chosen to enter into the world through Jesus. As we prepare for Christmas, we eagerly celebrate the coming king, while looking forward to his soon return. Let's prepare our hearts for an encounter with God this Christmas.
