Becoming a Missional Community Part 2

October 27, 2019 • Daniel Harrison

Last week we spent time in 1 Peter 2:9-3:15 and unpacked our distinct role as the people of God in the world. We concluded that we must revere Jesus as Lord of our lives, living such distinct lives, that others may ask and come to know Jesus. Good living leads to gospel sharing! The question we are asking for these two weeks is this: How can we become a true missional community that actually serves people and shares the gospel? We asked this question because this defines Jesus' mission and ministry on earth. As his followers, what does this look like on a daily basis for us? In this sermon hear practical ways you and your L.I.F.E group can get involved in building outside relationships "so that" we may bridge people to the good news of Jesus. Yes, we'll be sharing a new acronym for life groups! (-:

Becoming A Missional Community Part 1

Just twelve years ago, the first iPhone was released into consumer hands. It hasn’t taken long for the screen age to become an unprecedented time in human history with challenges never had by Christians. In this new day of unlimited access, hyper-isolation, and overwhelming faith questions, Christians often aren’t sure how to navigate our missionary call to the world. In this portion of our Life on Mission series, the question posed is this: How can we prioritize becoming a true missional community? The kind that Jesus envisions? The kind that fosters true meaningful and caring relationships? The kind that doesn’t sit on the sidelines wondering what’s happening—but with resilient faithfulness, bridges people to the gospel? As we study from 1 Peter together, we will discover just how simple our faith actually is within this complex world. Let’s rediscover together an everyday Christianity, with an everyday mission, through everyday life. Daniel P.S. Try the NEW digital “Fill in Notes.” The link will be above. This message is a call to "Open Your Heart; Open Your Home." The true love of Jesus THROUGH US will make a HUGE difference in the world in which WE live. Share this sermon with your friends!

Time for Action

Pastor Mike casts vision for this new season of Life on Mission. A few mantras covered in this sermon are: (1) The Church is not a building; the Church is people. (2) Our new building is not the vision; our building is a tool. The Church is Christ’s Body – His physical manifestation on the earth! (3) Our Mission: “Church 212 exists to RESTORE PEOPLE by the love of God; to IGNITE PASSION through authentic worship; to REVEAL GOD’S PURPOSE through the ministry of reconciliation.” Pastor Mike concludes with four big "asks" to prepare our hearts for this journey.
