The presence of salt changes whatever it is around. And if we are to be the salt and light of the earth, we are to change whatever we are around because of the Spirit of God living inside of us. The church of Sardis looked alive but they were dead. Will we follow Jesus, or will we blend in with culture?

The church of Pergamum was encouraged for their faith but many of them were committing idol worship and sexual immorality. Jesus would go on to tell them, "Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."
Victory Through Jesus

Jesus promised the church of Philadelphia "to keep them from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world," (Revelation 3:10) because they kept His command to persevere. He told them to continue to persevere for His name so that no one could take their crown. This same message applies to us today. Hold fast to His commands. Rely fully on Him no matter what comes our way. So "that no one may take your crown."

Too many times people have tried to “crack the code” of Revelation to figure out when Jesus will return. But for the Believers in Asia Minor, that was the wrong question to ask. They were trying to figure out how to live as faithful followers of Jesus anxiously awaiting the return of the King!
