All kidding aside, inviting someone to church should be a pretty easy thing to do; but it tends to carry a lot of baggage. Baggage like, who, how, and when? Questions like, "Where do I start?" "I don't know if that's me?" "How do I not rock the boat too much?" On top of fears like, "What if they say no?" "What if I say the wrong thing?" "What if they make fun of me and my 'religion'?" And even a touch of guilt from knowing you should be doing it but aren't. Simple? Clearly, inviting can be anything but simple, and Jesus even warns us that following him can bring division in our relationships.
