In the conclusion to the Advent season, Pastor Eli leads us through Habakkuk chapter 3. The prophet looks back to what God has done and takes strength from God's power and presence among His people. He has the courage to embrace God's goodness even when it seems like the world is falling apart. Like Habakkuk, we too wait for God to act on His promise but as we anticipate the day when Christ returns we look at what God has done in the sending of His son. We too have hope in the darkness because Christ was born to be the light of the world.
WAITING
December 10, 2023 • Eli Thomas • Habakkuk 2
Wondering where God is in our times of trial is hard, waiting on God when we struggle is even harder. 2000 years ago a baby was born into a world full of darkness to bring hope to all people. Centuries later we are waiting on his return and it feels at times like we are hemmed in by darkness on all sides. And we wait. But that child who came to be the light doesn't leave us to wait in vain. The Holy Spirit gives us the courage to face the darkness as we wait on the return of the light.
WONDERING

Habakkuk is known for his desperate pleas to God as he wrestles with faith in a world full of corruption. It is no wonder that Habakkuk cries out as he wonders if God even cares. It can seem that the world we inhabit is just as dark and just as desperate and yet we have hope because Immanuel was sent to bring us light!
