The Elder Son

We are wrapping up our study of The Prodigal Son by taking a look at his older brother. A quick reading shows a man with a serious case of jealousy but his response to his brother's recklessness helps us to see the love and compassion of the Father. When we read about the older son, do we feel held back by our relationship with Jesus or does it set us free to love like God loves?
The Father

In our second week in The Prodigal Son we move from the person of the son to the story of the Father. When the son returns home the father welcomes him with open arms. The father is reckless with his love, not giving what is deserved but instead showing his compassion. He is the one who gives us a place to come home.
The Younger Son

The parable of the Prodigal Son is a well known story about bad decisions and glorious homecomings. But when we look at the choices of the younger son we see a deeply flawed young man whose actions show us that when we hit rock bottom, daring to look back will always show us the way to come home.
