06-30-19 The Great Reveal

June 30, 2019 • Pastor George Gasperson

If I had to guess the mental state of the disciples, I would guess confused and depressed. Jesus had paused his public ministry to take his disciples away for a little rest to Caesarea Philippi. There, he spoke to them plainly for the first time about his suffering, death, and resurrection. Imagine the effect that had on the morale of the disciples. I think they were disillusioned, and they needed some encouragement and some hope, and in today’s Scripture, Jesus gives them some. The Revelation of Jesus (v2-6) The Voice of God (v7-8) How can we see Jesus without physically seeing him? We see the real Jesus through the Word. The stories like this one today reveal who Jesus really is through the written word of God. The Gospels are the Bible’s great reveal of Jesus. We can see his nature. We can know his thoughts, feel his pain, see his heart, and hear his words. The stories take us behind the scenes and uncover truth that even those present didn’t understand. Category

06-23-19 Jesus Heals a Blind Man

June 25, 2019 • Pastor George Gasperson

In today’s Scripture passage, Jesus heals a blind man. Of all the miracles that Jesus performed while on earth, healing was what people wanted to see most. There are some important principles that we can learn by looking closely at what Mark wrote. When it comes to healing, sometimes God says yes, and we’re healed on the spot. Sometimes God heals over time and through a process. And sometimes healing isn’t in God’s plan, and He gives the grace to keep going and endure. But one thing we can be sure of: God is still in the business of healing!

5-12-19 Following Jesus - Jesus chooses the 12

May 12, 2019 • Pastor George Gasperson

After introducing John the Baptist in Mark 1, Mark highlights Jesus’ early ministry. It didn’t take long for Jesus to attract large crowds, which begin to dominate his time and energy. Today we’ll see Jesus get away from the crowds for a moment and construct a critical foundation for the rest of his ministry and for the future church

04-28-19 John the Baptist

April 28, 2019 • Pastor Chris Weatherly

This week we began a new series through the book of Mark. This Sunday introduced to a key idea for the book of mark and a key figure in the first chapter. The key idea is that the book of Mark’s central theme is “The anointed King has come to redeem his people. Will you follow him?” Then the main person we studied was John the Baptist and his faithfulness in following king Jesus even to his own death.
