The last step in our journey to find healing through Christmas is replacing our grief and pain with joy. This morning we’ll talk about the process of regaining the joy in our lives by rediscovering the joy of Christmas. We will be reading the story of the Magi from Matthew 2.
12-13-20 When Christmas Gets Personal

So far during this Advent series, we have approached Jesus’s birth from an observational perspective similar to that of the shepherds. In other words, we’ve been spectators. We have read from Isaiah about the coming of Jesus, and we’ve listened to the real meaning of Jesus’ birth through the angel’s birth announcement. But today, I want to be drawn into the story, to become personally involved. This morning we’re going to talk about Mary and Joseph and how the events of the Christmas story drew them in took them from being observers to being participants. As we read, you’ll see how the story led them to a crisis of faith, requiring them to make a life-changing decision.
12-06-20 The Meaning of Christmas

Our hope is that this Christmas will be the antidote to the misery and pain of 2020. This week, we’ll focus on the real meaning of Christmas. In our society, Christmas has become many things to many different people, and if Christmas is going to special for us this year, we must rediscover the real message and meaning of Christmas.

Advent season is finally here! I want our celebration of Christmas to be the perfect antidote to the fear and anxiety of 2020. This morning we begin our Advent focus by concentrating on the importance of preparation. Unless we purposely prepare for Christmas, it will be just another day on our calendar.
