1 Timothy is a snapshot of a leader, Paul, pouring into a growing leader, Timothy. He says, “Timothy, this is what you need to become AND when you look for leaders, these are the qualities they need to have.”

Everybody knows we are to honor, but hardly anyone knows how to define it. We can describe it - stand up when someone walks into the room, listen intently, a moment of silence. Honor is hard to define, but it’s unmissable when you experience it. Paul says if ever there should be a place to show honor to one another - it’s the church.
Battle Ready

In 1 Timothy 4, Paul calls Timothy to fight three battles. This idea of being a soldier and fighting the good fight, is throughout 1 Timothy. Paul is speaking into Timothy to fight the good fight - the three battles mentioned in ch. 4 are battles you will fight and today is the day we have victory over these battles.
