They say that variety is the spice of life. Yet, when it comes to troubles, such variety brings a little too much spice! As we follow Christ, the world might throw different things our way, but James gives us a word of advice, and that word is ‘joy!’ God is still at work, and the child of God is still under His care. Even in a day such at this, God is at work!

Bad days are bad days. We might try to improve them, change them, or rewrite them, but all too often, the only help for a bad day is for it to end, get a good night’s sleep, and begin anew and afresh in the morning, and maybe the next day won’t be so bad. Unfortunately, as many of us will attest, tomorrow brings plenty of the bad along with it. We feel caught in a never-ending cycle of hurt, pain, and confusion. However, for the child of God our faith gives us an expectant hope. In Christ, a new day, a better day, a glorious day is just around the corner!

This world has an expiration date. We don’t know when it is. We can’t put it on the calendar. Nevertheless, we know it is set by One who was there before the beginning. And when all of this world is over and done, those of us who have trusted in Jesus will begin a new existence as residents of the Heavenly Realm. What a day that will be! Yet, the question stands before us. What of Heaven can we experience today?
