Natural disasters drive us to shelter. In a tornado, we go to the cellar. In a flood, we seek high ground. But where would we go in an earthquake? Such devastation takes away all places of safety and security. There is no place to stand. So it is when God brings moments of upheaval into our lives, when following Him leads to things that do not make sense or have no foundation in the reality we experience. Faith in the One who has saved us is also a faith that stands on the promise that nothing is impossible with God. When He leads us to the impossible, He is leading us to trust Him as He makes the way.

What if faith asks us to prepare for God’s plans and not ours?
