Advent 2021

The Lord of All

December 26, 2021 • Pastor Dustin Bingham

Let’s face it, during a season like Christmas when we’re surrounded by things that remind us of Him, it can be a little easier to consider Him. But as we pack up the nativity scenes, turn off the songs that filled our homes with joy-filled declarations of His arrival, and now shift our focus to a new year, it’s easy to begin losing sight of Him. But the author of Hebrews makes it clear – in order to lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely and to run the race before us with endurance, we must consider Jesus.

The Fulfillment of the Promise

December 24, 2021 • Pastor Chris Whitehead

The Christmas story begins long before that well-known night in Bethlehem. The story of the birth of Jesus into the world actually starts in the Garden of Eden. God made the world, set aside a garden, and placed a man and woman there. They were made in the image of God, to know and enjoy Him while spreading His kingdom throughout the earth. God was there with them, and this world was very good. This is where the story of Christmas starts. The incarnation is the story of the presence of God with His people being regained through a promised Redeemer.

The King of Love

December 19, 2021 • Pastor Chris Whitehead

Over the course of history, the Jews longingly expected the Promised Messiah. However, what they got was much different than what they expected. Jesus loved the Father, and therefore He humbled Himself to the point of death so that we might be saved. And it’s because He loved us first that we can love Him. Therefore, out of love and gratitude, submit yourself to the lordship and authority of Jesus Christ. Though His ruling over us may not look or feel like what we expect or want, He is the King we desperately need.

The Priest of Joy

December 12, 2021 • Pastor Chris Whitehead

One of the most important roles in ancient Israel was the office of priest. The priest represented the people of Israel before God in ceremonial acts of worship. The book of Hebrews teaches that Jesus has come to fulfill this long-anticipated expectation. He is the True Priest who sacrificed Himself once for all, in order that we “may draw near to God through Him.” This Advent season, may we be filled with joy that we have such a Great High Priest standing between us and God! He is our Mediator, and He lives to intercede on our behalf.

The Prophet of Peace

December 5, 2021 • Pastor Chris Whitehead

This Advent season we receive the timely instruction from the author of Hebrews to “consider Jesus.” He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses. Jesus is the greater prophet Moses testified about: declaring the word of the Lord. But Jesus did not simply declare the word of the Lord; He is the Word of the Lord. The glory of God was revealed in the miraculous birth of Jesus. The reason we celebrate the Christmas story is because we have the Easter story. Peace with God has now been purchased by Jesus and given to those who hope and believe in Him.
