Confidence in Christ

May 1, 2016 • David Hegg

Confidence in Christ Even though we may be in a quandary on what to do, I can be confident that whatever the situation I can and am to make Christ known. We are always in prime position to make Christ known. We have supreme confidence in Christ and what He calls us to do. Two things we can take confidence in: - I am His... a part of the triumphal procession. - We are the fragrance of Christ. We are His sample... His advertisement... His workmanship. Our lives are to remind people of Christ. * to God... first audience is God * among the crowd of people... thus we engage * the effect of the Gospel is beautiful and infuriating for some. * power of the Gospel should humble us - The confidence in Christ causes us to understand the power of the Word and to handle it well.

Discouragement in Ministry - SS

May 1, 2016 • David Hegg

No recording for this available yet. For now, we at least have some notes from Sunday's adult Sunday school hour with David. Discouragement in Ministry 2 Timothy 1:6-9 Young Timothy seemed to be: 1. Burned out 2. Timid 3. Ashamed of the simplicity yet seeming foolishness of the Gospel 4. Avoiding suffering Maybe losing his passion for ministry, all possibly because he was afraid to suffer. Paul spends his last letter to Timothy encouraging him in the midst of his suffering to have confidence… the solid confidence that only comes through Christ. Fan this flame Timothy! We in ministry today can also take great encouragement and confidence like Timothy all because of Christ!

Faith - Men's Retreat

April 30, 2016 • David Hegg

No audio or video for this message, but below are some notes from our Men's Retreat session with David. Faith for Men The Obedience Option - faith for us as believers to actually grow over our lives in our faith Hebrews 10-11 1. What is Faith? We have this confidence to access God through and because of Christ in faith. We can never be more forgiven than we already are in Christ. 2. Why is Faith Necessary? Let us draw near to Christ and hold fast with full assurance of faith. We draw near in the sense that when others look at us they see us as Christ. Then we read a warning that aims to procure legit faith... Faith that sees oneself wholly deprave apart from Christ. Christ is not simply our life reformer for our own benefit as a life coach, rather He is our fundamental Savior that through faith makes us righteous. The Scriptures do not call us to couch potato Christianity. Our legit faith will necessarily Firm faith is God's plan for us. God did not save you for you or even for your happiness. 3. How is faith Important? MacArthur - Demons are the most orthodox unbelievers in the universe. Faith is important - it's a life dominating conviction Satan is a great set builder At that moment we need faith. If we choose the path of disobedience, then at that moment we are acting like an unbelieving believer. The only way you overcome a passion for sin is a greater passion for something else (righteousness). 4. What faith Does? - repels temptation to sin (Eph. 6:16) When we choose the greater passion for righteousness because of our faith. Who am I really because of my faith? What is my identity in that moment? * We need a passion for God and a desire to know, obey, and please God and the natural consequence is an aversion to sin... This is Biblical holiness. So we need to be acquiring and growing. In this desire to know God. This begins to help us see delight that comes from duty. 5. How does faith grow? 2 Timothy 2:22 - Say no to the flesh. One has to replace the desire too, not just get rid of the habit or adhere to the rule. - Pursue the righteousness that comes from the Spirit. - do this along with the fellowship of believers
