In this series of “The Book,” we are going to walk through the book of 1 Peter where Peter writes a letter of encouragement to “the outsiders” (non-Jewish Christians of his day). These people were persecuted and being harassed because of their faith in Christ. Peter wrote to encourage them in 3 main areas: 1. He affirmed their new family identity. 2. He wanted them to realize that their suffering was a way to bear witness for Jesus. 3. He encouraged them to remember and place their hope in the truth that Christ would return. In the midst of great turmoil around the world, including the persecution of Christians, the book of 1 Peter reminds us of who we are and encourages us (Christ-followers) to remain strong in our faith and fully represent Christ Jesus, the King!
