Kingdom Come • A Study in Mark
Winter 2020 series at Centerpoint Church.
May 3rd Service • The Return of the King
April 26, 2020
Jesus ascended into heaven. Why? So that the Holy Spirit would come. And the Kingdom would grow spiritually. But one day soon Jesus will return physically and establish a perfect Kingdom here on earth. Are we looking forward to that day? Do we trust him with our future? Is our hope in his rule? No matter what the world throws at us, Jesus is greater.
April 26th Service • The Message of the King
April 26, 2020
What is the message of the King? To seek and save the lost. The message of the Kingdom is that there's GOOD NEWS! Jesus is alive and he has promised us eternal life. Faith and trust in him are the entrance requirements for the best gift we could ever imagine.
March 29th Service • The Heart of the King
March 29, 2020
Jesus was jealous for the glory of God. He healed from a heart of compassion, but even more so from a desire to demonstrate the presence and power of God. Jesus’ anger at the temple workers demonstrated his passion. His zeal was for the Father. This is the same heartbeat that each child of God should share.
Serving for the Kingdom's Good
March 15, 2020
While we wait for the Kingdom of God to one day come in all its fullness, we still rejoice that the King has come. Today Christ sets up his kingdom in the hearts of people who choose to repent and believe in his rule in their lives. A kingdom that is not of this world (Josh 18:36). A kingdom that changes us from the inside out.
Confronting the Kingdom's Enemies
March 1, 2020
Who is the enemy of God? Satan - the one who opposes. His influence and control are real. “The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.” (I John 5:19) We are called to combat evil, no matter how difficult it is. And to fight with the spiritual weapons we have been given (Ephesians 6).
Counting the Kingdom's Cost
February 23, 2020
When something is valuable, it always costs something. The more value, the greater the cost. The same is true spiritually - following Christ has a barrier: a barrier of cost. We need to explain the cost of following Christ, and not following Him. And the blessings of being willing to pay the price for Jesus' sake..
Proclaiming the Kingdom's Message
February 16, 2020
What is the message of the Kingdom of God? REPENT. In order to experience God’s love and new life, we must leave our old path and follow Jesus’ path. This message isn’t an easy one to accept for the the sinner, but it is easy to understand. Standing down and allowing God to change us from the inside out is the only way we can enter the Kingdom.
Learning Kingdom Lessons
February 9, 2020
The attitude of a Kingdom follower is one of growing and learning. The lessons of the Kingdom of God are often the opposite of the lessons that we would choose to learn. God is concerned about faith, not reliance on strength; purity, not personal pleasure; and about compassion, not self-centeredness.
Suffering for the Kingdom's Sake
February 2, 2020
“All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (I Timothy 4:12) Suffering for Christ’s Kingdom should be considered a privilege. And it is inevitable for the serious servant of God. We need to embrace suffering and seek to live a life of faith. Even as Jesus suffered personal loss, he still selflessly fed and healed people.
Understanding the Kingdom's Secrets
January 19, 2020
One of the more surprising aspects of Jesus' ministry was his desire to teach only the serious and committed about the deeper truths of God. Lots of seeds were scattered, but only a few hearts were ready to receive. But it was God's plan all along that with these few, the good news of Jesus would change the world.
