The law was given to show us our need for a Saviour, not to give us a road map to being made right before God. Right living is only possible when our righteousness is rooted in God's presence and control in our lives. This is what being filled with the Holy Spirit looks like.

One of the key attacks of Satan is to condemn the free. To accuse us of our faults and failings. To remind us of past sins and to have us look backward instead of ahead. To seek our own righteousness instead of trusting in God's grace. We need to choose freedom from this ungodly condemnation.
