Sanctity of Human Life

January 28, 2018 • Pastor Steve Pope

Sermon Meditation Sanctity of Human Life Sunday Genesis 1:26-28 In 1954, Theodor Seuss Geisel, (AKA, Dr. Suess) published a greatly-loved children’s classic; Horton Hears a Who. As the story goes, in the jungle of Nool there lived an elephant with extremely sensitive hearing. HIs hearing was so sensitive, in fact, that he was the only one who could hear a desperate cry for help from a tiny village. The tiny residents of this minuscule village lived on a floating dust spec. As the tiny village was in danger, Horton risked his reputation and safety to rescue the residents of Whoville because “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” The smallest and most vulnerable citizens of this world are also tiny. In fact, Human babies are, at first, invisible to the naked eye. In spite of this, from day one of their formation in mommy’s womb, they have their own DNA and blood type. By just eight weeks, these babies suck their thumbs and respond to sound. They recoil from pain and all internal organs are functioning; their hearts are pumping, livers are making blood cells, and kidneys are clearing fluids. They even have a fingerprint! By His Sovereign design, God grants some people strength that they might provide for and protect the weak. No matter how small, babies need our protection and prayers. They are all precious in the eyes of God as they are created in His image. And He loves them, every one. Join us this Sunday for a presentation by Jan Lackey, executive Director of our Simi CPC. And I’ll bring a word from Scripture regarding this issue. Why? Because “a person’s a person no matter how small.” Hope to see you on Sunday, Pastor Steve Home Fellowship Discussion Guide - Option No. 1 Week of January 29th Q: If you found out the government was bugging your home, what would you immediately stop doing or saying?
