Holy Passion! Part 1
I Thessalonians 4:1-8
Many Christians long to know God’s specific will for their lives - “where should I live, whom shall I marry, and what profession should I pursue?" We pray, hoping that following God’s lead will result in greater fulfillment and happiness. As we grow in Christ, we learn that God’s will provides pathways as well as guardrails.
Some of God’s will is specific and directive, revealing the steps to a new path in life; a new job, a new friendship, or a new ministry endeavor. But all aspects of God’s will are protective, like the guardrails on a steep mountain road. God’s path brings forward progress as these guardrails keep us from turning our lives into a smoldering wreck.
The command to “keep away from sexual immorality” is a crystal clear warning. Today, people travel through life at high speeds without acknowledging that this guardrail has any value. Some do not even believe it exist at all, and so plunge off the path into self-destruction.
Learning to control our bodies in “holiness and honor” is the only way to please God, and pleasing God provides the best motive in life. The one who rejects the call to avoid sexual immorality, “does not reject man, but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.”

Holy Passion - Part 2

Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 "Holy Passion Part Two" There are many places we go to find the answers to the questions we have. Some seek wise counsel from friends and family, some read books without end, others watch "How To" videos, some find the answer by trial and error, and some simply Google the answer. However, as men and women belonging to the Church of Jesus, anchored by the Word of God, we seek our answers from the Bible. Our mini series from our study through 1 Thessalonians, we are looking at the downfall of sexuality in our culture, and consequently, inside the Church. There are many inside and outside the church that have questions about sexuality. The Church has the answer because we have the Designers principles. God has made humanity male and female for a reason and He has a plan for us. As we continue this mini series, we will be looking at marriage and how to guard marriage as a precious gift given from a good and gracious God. I can't wait to study the Word with you this Sunday!
