TEXT - Matthew 11:28-30 OUTLINE Jesus brings a new and glorious morn into which we awaken to find rest for our souls.   1. Give up the burden of control. We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn. Matthew 11:17You are not in control!  2. Give up the burden of sin. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. No sin is not beyond forgiveness.  3. Give up the burden of striving.  Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10aYou will be restless until you find rest in God. NEXT STEPS Surrender!Rest!

For yonder breaks a new glorious morn.”   1. Accept No Substitute Peace. Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Luke 2:14A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear http://fruit.thet. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord - and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:1-3a 2. Embrace the disruptive kingdom. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Isaiah 11:4bFor to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:1 3. Assume the posture of peace. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. A Weary World Rejoices: A World Pining Pastor Kent Landhuis THEME - We have an irresistible yearning for the world to be better. TEXT - Isaiah 35:1-10 “Long lay the world in sin and error pining.” 1. Scream out loud. The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. ~ Isaiah 35:1Pining is an irresistible yearning or ache. How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? ~ Psalm 31:1 2. Take a breath. Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution, he will come to save you.” ~ Isaiah 35:4-5God’s now and not yet “will come” promises. O come, o come Emmanuel and ransom captive Israel that mourns in lonely exile here.Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. ~ Isaiah 7:14 3. Rest and Rejoice. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. ~ Isaiah 35:5-6God’s job - my job.
