Romans 12:1-2

Moved By Mercy

January 18, 2024 • Peter Denham • Romans 12:1–2

“No man is a fool to give up that which he cannot keep, to gain that which he can’t lose.” - Jim Elliot

POINT #1. Sacrifice is our service

"There is actually only one thing you can dedicate to God, and that is your right to yourself.” Oswald Chambers

POINT #2. Consecration is our call

JB Phillips: “…beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him. Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God re-mold your minds from within…”

“But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8)

For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.[e]17Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.[f] 18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.[g]” 2 CORINTHIANS 6:16-18

POINT #3 Transformation is our testimony

JB Phillips: “so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.”
