You can’t talk about Joseph without mentioning his father, Jacob. As great a man as Joseph was, he didn’t have a great role model in his father, because Jacob was a flawed and sometimes evil man - until later in his life when his perspective changed. We see this come through clearly in Genesis forty-seven and forty-eight.
