If you were headed for a cliff in your car, and had plenty of time to hit the brakes and stop safely, you'd do it wouldn't you? Self preservation is a strong instinct for humans and all other creatures. Why then did Jesus Christ allow himself to be crucified in a horribly painful way, when He could easily have stopped it? Because He loves you and I so much!
