Sermon on the Mount

The Golden Rule

January 26, 2006 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 7:12

On today's broadcast we'll complete our series of selected messages from the sermon on the mount by looking at one of the most familiar verses in all the Bible - Matthew seven, verse twelve. The so-called "golden rule" is a model for all Christians to live by, and it's very popular with other religions as well. But there's a key difference in the way Jesus stated it, and the way the world recites it. What's the difference? Does it really matter? Oh, it absolutely does!

Spiritual Discernment

December 11, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 7:6

Do you know someone who knows everything? Now, I said knows everything, not THINKS they know everything. We all know people like that, but the truth is, no one knows everything except God. That's why spiritual discernment is so vital for a Christian life. We need to seek God's wisdom in everything we do, and we need to know right from wrong from God's perspective. If you need a little help in this area, stay tuned.

Seek First The Kingdom

November 20, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:33

The body of David Livingstone was buried in England where he was born, but his heart was buried in the Africa he loved. At the foot of a tall tree in a small African village the natives dug a hole and placed in it the heart of this man who they loved and respected. If your heart were to be buried in the place you loved most during life, where would it be? In your pocketbook? In your car? Where is your heart? We invite you to turn to Matthew chapter six as Pastor Lloyd shows us that we need to have our hearts fixed on Godly things, to avoid confusion and to be obedient to God.

Worries of the World

November 13, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:25–34

The last section of Matthew chapter six contains wonderful words of comfort for those who are worried and anxious. There are many authors of so-called self help books who believe they have the answers to your problems with worry, but unless the source of their wisdom is the Bible, their advice rings hollow. Which would you rather rely on - the words of the latest pop-psychologist to come out of nowhere, or the Lord Jesus Christ?

Laying Up Treasures In Heaven

November 6, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:19–24

Financial experts have varying opinions when it comes to investing, but most will agree on the principle of diversification. In other words, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. However, when it comes to storing up heavenly treasures, diversification doesn't apply. We need only invest in heavenly stock, and this wise investment will lead to eternal spiritual dividends. We'll examine our relationship to what we own, today on Bridging the Gap.

The Truth About Forgiveness

October 23, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:14–15

The true purpose of prayer is to receive God's will when we ask according to His Will. So often we find ourselves trying to sway God towards our will which in turn limits God's working in our lives. On today's program, Lloyd will share some thoughts about one of the most important aspects of our Christian life - forgiveness. Join us if you can in Matthew chapter six, as we examine verses fourteen and fifteen.

Divorce

August 14, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 5:31–32

John Wooden was known as a great basketball coach. He won ten NCAA championships at UCLA. As great as his coaching record was, he was equally known as a man who truly loved his wife. He wrote his beloved Nellie a love letter every month after her death in 1985. That is a wonderful picture of love and attention to the marriage vow. But marriages like that are an endangered species.

Taming the Beast Within

August 7, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 5:27–30

It is amazing to see how far our culture has progressed over the last century. There are many people who lived long enough to see the Wright brother's first flight, and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon! While society gets more sophisticated, it also gets more depraved. Just turn on prime time television if you doubt me. Lust, adultery, and fornication, are all age-old problems for the human race. While sex is God given, it must also be God governed, as we'll see today on Bridging the Gap.

Anger Management

July 31, 2005 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 5:21–26

We'll find out what the root of murder is today on Bridging the Gap, and you just may be surprised to discover the symptoms in your life! The basis for this discovery is an authoritative statement by Jesus that deals not just with an outward action, but also an inward attitude. Not only will Lloyd examine the regulation and the root, but he'll deliver the remedy too. This medicine for a murderous heart is just part of our study of the great Sermon on the Mount.
