May 26, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Ephesians 1:13–14
On today's program we begin a new series from pastor Lloyd called "Christian Growth and Development". When you think about our relationship with God, wouldn't you agree that it's important to be growing? There are too many people who think that once they become a Christian, that's all there is to it. Nothing could be further from the truth, as we'll find over the next several of weeks.
Privilege of Prayer
June 2, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
How many times have you said this to someone: "I'll pray for you". And how many times have you forgotten to do so? Yeah.... me too. As we continue pastor Lloyd's new series called "Christian Growth and Development", we're going to be talking today about prayer, or more specifically, the privilege of prayer. Have you ever considered prayer as a privilege? Too often we treat prayer as a means to tell God what we need materially, or as a last resort in times of trial. When we do that, we are completely missing the point.
The Discipleship Objective
June 16, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 28:18–20, Exodus 18:21
Today we're going to continue Pastor Lloyd's new series called "Christian Growth and Development". There are many important aspects to being a Christian, and one of the most important things we do is share our faith with others. In fact, that's the very last thing Jesus told His disciples before He ascended to Heaven - go into all the world and make disciples. So.... how are you doing in this area?
Tried, Tested and Found True
June 23, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 4:1–11
Yesterday we were in the book of Matthew, and we'll return there once again today. As we look at chapter four, we come across a scene that is familiar to most Christians. Jesus is fasting in the wilderness and is tempted repeatedly by satan. It's in this area of life we sometimes make a mistake. It's not a sin to be tempted - the sin comes when we succumb to that temptation! How did Jesus handle the temptation from satan?
Handling the Word of God
June 30, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
You know, studying the bible should never be considered labor by a Christian. We have been given an amazing gift called the Bible, and it should be a joyous experience to open it and read God's wonderful words. Is that how you feel about bible study? Today Pastor Lloyd continues his new series called "Christian Growth and Development", and he will once again be reminding us of the power to be found in the pages of the bible, and the ways we can put that power to work in our lives.
God's Intention for Fellowship
July 7, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Ephesians 2:19–22, Ephesians 4:15–16
If you're a sports fan, and you attend games in person, you know all about that feeling of community with other like-minded fans. It makes the game a lot more fun when you're in the midst of fellow fans. Well that's exactly the same feeling we should have when we are amongst fellow Christians. Fellowship is the topic today as Pastor Lloyd continues his new series "Christian Growth and Development".
The Greatest of these is Love
July 14, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
Love is certainly something that every one of us is familiar with. We tell people close to us that we love them. We yearn to hear the words "I love you" spoken to us. But what does it really mean to "love" someone? We certainly have some examples in the media of what love isn't. But if we want to find out what love really is, we need only go to God's word. We'll be looking today at the Lord's commandment to "Love your neighbor as yourself".
Marriage and Family: Type of Christ
July 21, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Ephesians 5:31–33
Today on Bridging the Gap, Lloyd Pulley continues his series on Christian Growth and Development as we look to Ephesians chapter five, verses thirty one through thirty three. This portion of the series has a particular focus on the roles that God has devised for the husband and wife in marriage. God is the Designer of marriage, and despite what the world is trying to do, God knows the best operating procedures.
Called to Serve
July 28, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
We will be looking at several scriptures today, beginning with First Thessalonians chapter five. This section of Scripture contains instruction about life in the church. Paul's words are very practical, basic, and as we are about to see, very straightforward. We're talking about how we're to live and relate and to serve each other in the church today.
The Christian and Culture
August 4, 2013 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
On today's program we wrap up Pastor Lloyd's ten message series called "Christian Growth and Development". This series has taken us down a challenging road of biblical truths in several important areas, like prayer, discipleship, fellowship and marriage. Today Pastor Lloyd will bring the series to a close by once again sharing some insights and encouragement about the culture in which we live. To say that society is hostile toward Christianity is an understatement. It's gotten to the point now where Christians are threatened with jail time and fines for simply speaking the truth from God's word. Is it a hopeless situation? No!
