Throughout the Bible The Lord uses both positive and negative motivations to get us to respond placing our hearts in the right place. There are plenty of positive motivational teachings the Lord gives us that may cause us to desire the rapture of the church. But in this sermon He shares with us some of the negative motivations for desiring the rapture -- some things we want to "escape" from as well. It's God's desire to unhinge us from the hold the great things of the world have on our hearts, and show us what the world is indeed coming to. If we, by faith, embrace the truth that this world is coming to a disastrous end in the tribulation, perhaps we will not allow our hearts to be weighted down by the things of the world, but instead, with a lightness of step and a ready anticipation, be watching for the return of the Lord.

The Stage is Set

Just as the stage was set for Jesus' first coming, we are seeing a radical move in history in our time for the stage to be set for his second. Some say the world is falling apart, but from God's prophetic perspective it is only coming together too perfectly. How much more should we seek to be assured of our sonship in Christ Jesus through faith, so that when he comes he might invite us into his kingdom as an heir rather than an enemy.
