Often we think God is to be blamed if we sense his resistance in our lives, as if He was limiting us or not allowing us to reach our true potential. In this passage God asks us to see it a different way. He asks us to believe that it is our affections for worldly things that truly limit us, not Him. As we receive this truth by faith we will come to clearly perceive God not as one who limits us, but as one whose heart is wide open toward us, wanting His best for us and being uniquely qualified to teach us what that "best" really is.
