Application Questions:
• What are some of your own advantages or tendencies that you have come to rely on to make it through your everyday life? How do these stand as roadblocks to gaining Christ (v. 8)?
• What does a knowledge of Christ bring according to vv. 8–10? Why are these important to have as we live life?
• How are you getting a knowledge of Jesus? Is it something that you can do on your own (why or why not)? Is this knowledge informational or relational (how so)?
• How are we to pursue Christ according to vv. 12–14? What should this look like in your life? What are the things behind that you need to forget?
• How should our heavenly citizenship (v. 20) affect the way that we view citizenship here in America?
• Regarding someone alive today, whose life do you pattern yours after? If you don’t have someone, what steps should you take for this important aspect of discipleship?
