In verses 10-12, Peter is making the point, you want to know the certainty of your future, look to the past. When you see the fulfillment of the Lord's First Coming, then you will be certain of His Second Coming. First, He came as the Suffering Messiah to die for the sins of the world, next He will come as the Victorious Messiah, coming to claim His people, and judge all who have rejected Him. Verses 13, starts with “therefore”, THE “therefore” is equivalent to, “in view of the fact that even though you are undergoing many kinds of trials (v. 6), yet because your heavenly inheritance awaits you” (vv. 3–6), and because you have so great a salvation (vv.5&9), a salvation so great the prophets longed to see it (vv.10-12), how then should we live……and the Lord goes on and gives us a roadmap of and power for the child of God.
