A Right Way and a Wrong Way - MIDWEEK

Dealing with Conflict

April 15, 2020 • Bro. Tim Russell

**2Timothy 23-26** *But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.*

**Proverbs 26: 21** *As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.*

**Ephesians 4:1-3**  *I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.*

**Ephesians 4:29** *Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.*

* Avoid unnecessary conversations that leads to further conflict… whenever possible (v24a, …the servant of the Lord must not strive)
* Be gentle (v24b)
* Instead of criticizing, be a teacher (v24c) - People are watching! Conflict is an opportunity to teach people.
* Be patient (v24d) - Be tolerant.
* These responses create meekness (v25a)
* To the end that God will draw them to repentance so that they might come to know Truth, and thereby escape the snares of Satan (v25b, 26)
