We must abstain from fleshly lusts…
* because they war against our very souls. Therefore, abstain (hold oneself off or away from) fleshly lusts which cause internal conflict between the spirit and flesh.
* so we don’t destroy our witness and testimony.
* by first identifying and admitting the fleshly lusts that beset us!
* by establishing safe boundaries and self-imposed restrictions.
1Peter 2:11-12 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
