The Enticement of Man's Applause Versus The Enjoyment of God's Approval "We must picture hell as a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives with the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment." - C.S. Lewis "in a world dominated by the image instead of the word, interior life gives way to exterior show. Substance gives way to simulation." - Rushkoff 1. Faith 2. Virtue 3. Knowledge 4. Multiplied Grace

1. δωρέομαι dōréomai, do-reh'-om-ahee; To bestow gratuitously. To give. 2. χάρις cháris, khar'-ece; Graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude); acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, grace, gracious, joy, liberality, pleasure, thanks, thankworthy. His divine power has GRANTED to us: - All things that pertain to life and Godliness, - Through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, - By which He has GRANTED to us His precious and very great promises, - So that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. Divine Grace and Human Helplessness - Apart from God's grace, we are helpless in the most mundane earthly matters (Mark 4:26-28; Mark 6:34, 41). - Apart from God's grace, we are helpless on the battlefield of spiritual warfare (Mark 5:3-5). - Apart from God's grace, we are helpless in dealing with sickness and disease (Mark 5:25-27). - Apart from God's grace, we are helpless to meet the spiritual needs of others (Mark 9:20-27). May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Make Your Calling and Election Sure

The Believer's Foundation - Justification - Sanctification The Believer's Formation - Faith - Virtue - Knowledge - Self-control - Steadfastness - Godliness - Brotherly affection - Love The Believer's Validation - The one who claims to be justified but "lacks these things" is "shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins," with the result that (1) his calling and election are not sure, (2) he risks "stumbling," and (3) he may well discover he has not been supplied with "an entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." - The justified person in whom these things abound (1) is "neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jess Christ," (2) confirms his "calling and election," and (3) is supplied "an entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

The Grace Of God - Romans 5:20-6:23 - Romans 12:6-8 - 1 Corinthians 15:10 - 2 Corinthians 8:1-9:15 - 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 - Ephesians 4:29 - Titus 2:11-14 Enabling The People Of God - Were you ever convicted of sin and brought to repentance, renewal, and steps of obedience? That's what the grace of God does for believers. - Did a fellow church member ever serve you practically, with the result that you were encouraged to hang in there during a difficult season or simply to keep following Christ for another week? That's what the grace of God does for believers. - Did you yourself ever make a sacrifice in order to minister to someone? That's what the grace of God does for believers. - Did you ever feel weak but were strengthened to carry on that day when you cried out to the Lord for help? That's what the grace of God does for believers. - Did you ever find the gospel appealing, so much that it motivated you to do something hard for the glory of Christ? That's what the grace of God does for believers. For The Glory Of God - His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:3) - But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)
