The Prophets From 30,000 Feet

The Minor Prophets

Overview of the Prophets

May 5, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

From beginning to end, every section of the Bible points to God's plan to save humanity. No section of Scripture make this more clear than the Old Testament prophets. In this overview message, Josh introduces five major themes found in these ancient writings.

How You Worship Matters !

May 12, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

In this message we are introduced to the prophet Amos, who had a stern message for the people of Israel. There is a direct correlation between how we worship and how we live. In fact, how we live is the best indicator of what we are truly worshiping!

God's Coming Kingdom

May 19, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

God has big plans for you! If you've put your trust in Jesus, the future God has for you is full of blessing, excitement, and wonder. That doesn't mean there won't be troubled times along the way. In fact, things may get really ugly for a while. But don't worry, nothing can undo the plans God made for you.

The Great Message of Hope

May 26, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

Humans Reject God. This is our history and sad legacy. But despite this, God continues to shower us with love and opportunity to know Him. Isaiah spoke into the life of ancient Israel at a time when they had openly rejected God's offer of salvation. This brought ruin and misery, but Isaiah was also there to remind them that God never stops offering His hand of forgiveness and love.

Our Preciousness in Light of His Glory

June 2, 2019 • Mark Worth

Life is full of storms; dark waters that we must walk through. As Israel is faced with some dark times, Isaiah speaks a word of comfort to them, that God will be with them and that they are precious to Him. Sch significant acts of grace and love by God cause us to dig deeper into questions like "Why would God be with us through our hardships?" and How can I possibly be precious to an all sufficient God?" Join us as we go deeper into God's truth for us in Isaiah 43:1-7.

Building The Vision

June 9, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

God has given our church the vision to be a light in the City of Jackson. Our vision is to be a group of people who inspire others to become followers of Jesus, and to be a place where they can connect with others, grow in their faith, and launch into service. In this message we are looking at a man name Nehemiah and the unique vision God gave him. But, as Nehemiah would soon learn, when God gives vision, trouble usually follows on its heels.

The Reasons We Rejoice

June 16, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

Sin. Wrath. Punishment. Judgement. Damnation. Perhaps the biggest reason people skip over the prophets is because the writings are filled with messages of woe and God's judgement. Zephaniah is no exception, as it contains some of the harshest language found anywhere in the Bible. But did you know that this same book teaches us that God delights in you? When he thinks of you, he dances! He sings! He rejoices!

False Religion Is Self-Harm

June 30, 2019 • Mark Worth

God longs for us to love Him with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. He created us to be most satisfied through that love. So when we let other loves overtake our love of Him, it corrodes our satisfaction in Him. Israel was worshiping other gods, and in Jeremiah 7 the Lord reveals some harsh judgments on them; proclaiming that religious activity won't save them, rather, only a heart reformation would lead to their salvation.

The Dangers of Disobedience

July 7, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

Fear has a way of gripping our hearts and minds. It distorts and twists until it has completely warped our perspectives and core beliefs. Fear is also one huge reason why people disobey God, which brings further hurt and ruin into their lives. But even in the midst of our fear-fueled disobedience, God stands ready to defend and protect.

The Dangers of Pride

July 14, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

T.S. Elliot once said that, "most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important". Such people want things their way, and often don't mind trampling on others to get it. Pride is a sin that is both dangerous and damaging. In this message, listen as Obadiah warns an entire nation about the dangers of pride.

The Good Shepherd

July 21, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

Corrupt pastors. Self-centered church members. Hurting people ignored. It's easy to forget what is truly important. In today's message, we are looking at a passage in the Old Testament where God reminds His people that He is a God who rescues and heals. He is also calling on us to join in that mission, too.

The Promised One

July 28, 2019 • Josh Gelatt

In the Old Testament book of Joel, locust had destroyed everything. The crops were gone. The cattle were dead or dying. The people of Israel were on the brink. In the middle of this terrible situation, God spoke about a coming day when His Holy spirit would pour down on them. Listen to this sermon and discover a God who speaks to you in your darkest moments, offering His presence and blessing.
