Are We Having Fun Yet?

July 8, 2018

If you were to ask people, "where do you go to have fun?" church may not be first on the list. In fact, many today describe church, and those who attend church, as stuffy, too serious, unable to laugh, even boring. Boring? I beg your pardon…… But are they correct in their assessment? Is the church too serious? Can Christians actually have fun? This week we continue in our summer series, “The Bible #nofilter” as we answer the question “Are We Having Fun Yet?”

Celebrating Communion

September 2, 2018 • September 2, 2018 • Pastor Jay Farwell

This Sunday, we look forward to enjoying the Holy Sacrament of Communion together. As we come to the table, we want to reflect on what communion is. Sure we could probably tell you what it means and why we do it, but many times there are two responses that we can have when we come to the Lord’s Table. The first is with a sense of commonality and the second is with a sense despair. These are a far cry from what communion is to us, a blessed gift from our Savior to help us remember the gospel and to declare it boldly both to ourselves and to an on-looking world. Let’s ENJOY communion together this week.

Learning to Swim

August 26, 2018 • August 26, 2018 • Pastor Dave Dick

What do we do with what we have we have heard this summer? As we wrap up our summer series “The Bible #nofilter” the question is - what’s next? What do we do with all of this information? What is God asking of us as the church in 2018 as it relates to the culture that exists today in our valley, in our state, in our country? In keeping with the theme of summer maybe we should start by taking a swim.

Exchanging God's Glory for... (Part Two)

August 19, 2018 • August 19, 2018 • Pastor Dave Dick

Where was the last place that you did some people watching? It is amazing how quickly we see the differences between people by how they look, what they are wearing, by the people they are with, or maybe even the language they use or how they look at you. It is often easier to see how we are different than it is to recognize what we have in common. Last week we began a series within the series as we took a look at how we exchange God's glory in our life. Our focus last week was on the area of sexual sin in our lives. This week we will look at part 2 of "Exchanging God's Glory for...." as we focus in on two encounters recorded in the book of John. The first encounter was between Jesus and a highly respected religious leader and the second was between Jesus and a woman who was ostracized by her community. On the surface it would appear that these two people would not have much in common, but as we take a closer look we see they were both exchanging God's glory for something else and that is not all they have in common. Join us Sunday as we continue in our summer series "The Bible #nofilter."
